Focus Applied Technologies successfully commissioned a large-capacity Electric Motor Dynamometer (EMD) system at Newton Electrical Services in Manila. This 300kW continuous unit (capable of peak power up to 800kW) is specifically engineered for testing high-capacity AC and DC industrial motors.
With Newton providing overhaul and servicing for heavy industrial motors and generators, this advanced dynamometer enhances their quality control testing. It enables diagnostics for brush arcing, bearing slippage, structural vibrations, thermal hot spots, and overall electrical motor efficiency post-rebuild.
The system supports burn-in endurance testing and automated duty-cycle simulation. Light Rail Traction motors can now be tested up to full operational load, allowing rail operators to reduce downtime and optimize maintenance costs. Within two days of installation, the Newton engineering team successfully authored automated test scripts to run variable load cycles.
